The people behind Maplecrestgames
Maplecrestgames started with a simple frustration. We loved sports manager games, especially hockey ones, but found it hard to get honest, specific advice on which browser game suited which kind of player. Most write-ups were lists of features copied from store pages. We wanted reviews written by people who had actually run the clubs.
So that is what we do. Every game on our shelf gets a real club and real weeks of play. We set line-ups, adjust practice, check the books, watch matches and live with our mistakes. The reviews describe what we found, the scores reflect how the games felt over time, and the time estimates come from our own session notes.
We are a hockey desk first, and three of our six games include ice hockey. But good management is good management, so we also cover basketball, football and motorsport managers that earned their place. Canada’s winters make for long evenings, and we spend a lot of them in the general manager’s chair.
We keep the shelf small on purpose. Six games reviewed properly are more useful than sixty reviewed in a hurry. When a game changes, we revisit it, and when a better one arrives, it has to earn its spot the same way the others did.
Played before praised
Every review comes from a club we ran ourselves for weeks. If we have not lived with a game, we do not write about it.
Mechanics checked at the operator
Mechanics, dates and devices come from the operators’ own pages and rules, and we describe the experience rather than inventing numbers.
Fit over fanfare
We rank by how well a game serves a real player’s week, not by how loud its marketing is.
